Surah 80
Surah 'Abasa: He Frowned
Revealed at Makkah
With the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Rewarding
80:1
HE frowned and turned aside,
80:2
because the blindman came to him.
80:3
And what will make you know that perhaps he wanted to purify,
80:4
or that he would mind, and the Reminder would profit him?
80:5
But as to him who regarded himself well-to-do,
80:6
to him you were then paying attention.
80:7
Though there is no liability on you if he does not purify.
80:8
Whereas who came to you running,
80:9
and he fears,
80:10
but you showed negligence towards him.
80:11
By no means! Certainly this is a Reminder,—
80:12
so let whoever wishes, mind it.
80:13
On honored sheets,—
80:14
exalted, purified,
80:15
with the hands of scribes,
80:16
honorable, virtuous.
80:17
May man be destroyed! how ungrateful he is!
80:18
Out of what object He created him?
80:19
Out of a spermatozoon! He created him, then proportioned him;
80:20
then made the passage easy for him;
