Surah 79
Surah An-Nazi'at: Those Yearning
Revealed at Makkah
With the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Rewarding
79:1
CONSIDER the yearning ones proceeding violently;
79:2
and those going forth in a steady going forth,
79:3
and the swimmers in a swift swimming.
79:4
Then the foremost go foremost!
79:5
And consider those regulating the affair!
79:6
The day the quaking one will quake,
79:7
the consequence will succeed it.
79:8
Hearts on that day will be trembling,
79:9
their looks will be downcast.
79:10
They will say: “Shall we indeed be restored to former state?
79:11
“What! when we shall become rotten bones?”
79:12
They say: “That then indeed would be a loosing return.”
79:13
But it will be a single cry,
79:14
and lo! they will become awakened!
79:15
Has there come to you the story of Musa?
79:16
When his Rabb called out to him in the sacred valley, Tuwa,
79:17
“You go to Fir‘awn,— surely he has transgressed—
79:18
“then say: 'Do you desire that you should purify yourself?
79:19
'I shall then guide you to your Rabb, so that you may fear'.”
79:20
And he showed him the great Sign.
