Surah 2
Surah Al-Baqarah: The Heifer
Revealed at Madinah
2:81
Yea, whoever earns evil and his wrong-doings encompass him, these then, are the fellows of the Fire; in it they abide.

2:82
But those who believe and do good, these are the companions of the Garden; in it they abide.

2:83
And remember,— We took a covenant from the Children of Israil— “You will not worship any but Allah, and kindness
to parents, and to the near of kin, and the orphans and the needy; and speak to people nicely;
and establish the Salat, and pay the Zakat.” Afterwards you turned back— except a few of you, and you backslide.

2:84
And remember,— We took from you your covenant— “You will not shed your blood, nor turn out your people from your homes.”
Then you confirmed, and you do bear witness.

2:85
And then, it is you who would slay among yourselves, and banish a party from among you out of their homes, backing up against
them with sin and cruelty. And if they come to you as prisoners, you ransom them— while it is unlawful for you to expel them. Then is it only a part of the scripture
that you believe in, and reject the other? What then is the reward of him who does this among you except disgrace in the life of this world? And on the day of the
Awakening they will be sent back to the most severe chastisement. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.

2:86
These are those who have purchased the life of this world for the Hereafter. No lightening of the punishment will then be upon them, nor will they be helped.

2:87
And We indeed gave Musa the scripture, and We made to follow after him rasuls; and We gave ‘Isa, son of Mar-yam clear proofs, and We aided him with the Holy Spirit.
Is it then that every time a rasul comes to you with what your souls do not desire, you behave arrogantly? So some you belied, and some others you would slay.

2:88
And they say: “Our hearts are the wrappings.” In fact, Allah has condemned them due to their disbelief; so little it is what they believe!

2:89
And when there comes to them a Scripture from the presence of Allah, confirming what are with them— although in the past they used to pray
for victory over those who disbelieved— yet when there came to them which they recognized, they disbelieved in it. So the condemnation of Allah be upon the Unbelievers.

2:90
Evil is that for which they have bartered their souls, that they deny what Allah has revealed, out of envy— that Allah, out of
His grace reveals it on such of His bondmen as He pleases. Thus they have drawn wrath upon wrath. And for the Disbelievers there is a disgraceful chastisement.

2:91
And when it is said to them: “Believe in what Allah has revealed”, they say: “We believe in what was revealed to us.”
And they reject that which has come after that, while it is the Truth confirming what is with them. Say: “Why did you then slay nabis of Allah before? If you be believers.”

2:92
And indeed Musa came to you with clear proofs; yet you took the calf after him, and you were wrongdoers

2:93
And indeed Musa came to you with clear proofs; yet you took the calf after him, and you were wrongdoers

2:94
Say: “If the Future home in the presence of Allah be indeed for you especially to the exclusion of the people, then you wish for death, if you be truthful.”

2:95
But they will never wish for it, on account of what their hands have sent forward; for Allah is well-Acquainted with the wrongdoers.

2:96
And you will indeed find them the greediest of mankind for life— and even than those who associate. One of them would wish if
he could live a thousand years. But he will not cause removal from himself the punishment even if he is granted a long life. And Allah is Seer of what they do.

2:97
Say: “Whoever is an enemy to Jibril”— for surely he it is who has brought it down on your heart— with the permission of Allah,
confirming what has gone before it, and as a Guidance and glad-tidings for the Believers.

2:98
“Whoever is an enemy to Allah, and His malaks and His rasuls, and Jibril and Mikal, then of course Allah is an enemy to the Unbelievers.”

2:99
And We indeed have revealed to you manifest Messages; and no one rejects them except the miscreants.

2:100
What! and every time they contract a covenant, a party of them throws it aside? Rather most of them do not believe.
