Surah Al-Lail: The Night

Revealed at Makkah

With the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Rewarding

92:1
CONSIDER the Night when it draws a covering,

92:2
and the day when it shines in brilliance;

92:3
and what He created— the male and the female!

92:4
surely your striving is indeed diverse.

92:5
Then as to him who gives and practices reverence,

92:6
and testifies to what is the best,

92:7
so We shall soon facilitate for him every facility.

92:8
But as to him who acts miserly, and considers himself well-to-do,

92:9
and belies what is the best,

92:10
We shall then soon ease off for him to adversity.

92:11
And his wealth will not avail him anything when he is thrown.

92:12
Certainly it is upon Us to show the guidance;

92:13
and surely unto Us belong the Hereafter and the Former.

92:14
Therefore I have warned you of a flaming Fire.

92:15
No one will roast in it except the most wretched,

92:16
who belies and turns back.

92:17
And the most reverent will be kept far away therefrom,—

92:18
who gives his wealth purifying himself,

92:19
and no one has with him any favor that has to be recompensed,—

92:20
except the seeking of the countenance of his Rabb, the Most High.

92:21
And verily soon he will be well-satisfied.
