Surah 85
Surah Al-Buruj: The Constellations
Revealed at Makkah
With the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Rewarding
85:1
CONSIDER the heaven full of the Constellations,
85:2
and the promised Day,
85:3
and the bearer of witness, and the witnessed.
85:4
Destroyed are the Fellows of the Trenches,—
85:5
the Fire supplied with fuel;
85:6
lo! upon it they do sit,
85:7
and they are witnesses of what they do to the Believers.
85:8
And they did not have grudge against them except because they believed in Allah—the Exalted in Might, the most Praised,—
85:9
to Whom belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. And Allah is a Witness over all things.
85:10
Surely as to those who persecute the believing men and the believing women, and then do not turn, for them then is the
chastisement of Gehenna, and for them is the punishment of burning.
85:11
Surely as to those who believe and do good, for them are Gardens beneath which flow the rivers. That is the great Achievement.
85:12
Surely the seizing of your Rabb is indeed severe.
85:13
Surely He it is Who originates, and He reproduces;
85:14
and He is the most Forgiving, the Loving,
85:15
Master of the Throne of power, the Glorious,
85:16
Doer of what He intends.
85:17
Has not there come to you the story of the hosts—
85:18
of Fir‘awn and Thamud?
85:19
Of course, those who disbelieve are in belying;
85:20
but Allah is encompassing from behind them.
85:21
Obviously, it is a glorious Qur-an,
85:22
in a Tablet guarded.
