Surah At-Tatfif: Defrauding

Revealed at Makkah

With the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Rewarding

83:1
WOE be to the defrauders—

83:2
who, when they take measure from people, they demand full measure,

83:3
but when they give measure to them or weigh out for them, they give less.

83:4
Do they not think— these— that they will surely be raised again,

83:5
on a terrible Day:

83:6
the Day whereon mankind will stand up before the Rabb of all the worlds?

83:7
No! Surely the record of the wicked will indeed be in Sijjin.

83:8
And what will make you know what the Prison is?

83:9
A written Register.

83:10
Woe be on that Day to those who belie,—

83:11
who belie the Day of Judgment.

83:12
And no one rejects it except every immoderate sinner,

83:13
when Our Messages are recited to him, he says: “Stories of the ancients.”

83:14
No! rather, what they had been earning has rusted upon their hearts.

83:15
No! certainly they will that Day indeed be veiled from their Rabb.

83:16
And then they will of course be roasted in the fierce Fire.

83:17
Then it will be said: “This is that about which you used to belie.”

83:18
No! surely the record of the pious will be in the Zenith.

83:19
And what will make you know what the Zenith is?

83:20
A written Register,—
