Surah Al-Qiyamah: The Awakening

Revealed at Makkah



With the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Rewarding


75:1
NAY! I call to witness the day of the Awakening!


75:2
And nay! I call to witness the Self-accusing Soul.


75:3
Does man reckon that We shall not gather his bones?


75:4
Yes! We are Capable of restoring his finger-bones.


75:5
But man desires to act wickedly in front of him.


75:6
He asks: “When is the day of the Awakening?”


75:7
So that when the sight is confused;


75:8
and the moon is eclipsed;


75:9
and the sun and the moon are brought together;


75:10
on that day man will say: “Where is the place of refuge?”


75:11
Nowhere! There is no refuge!


75:12
Towards your Rabb that day is the resting place.


75:13
Man will on that day be informed as to what he sent forward, and he left behind.


75:14
In fact man is enlightened against his own soul,


75:15
even though he puts forth his excuses.


75:16
Do not move your tongue with it, so as to make haste with it.


75:17
Surely upon Us rests the collection of it, and the recitation of it.


75:18
Therefore when We have recited it, then you follow its recital.


75:19
Then again, upon Us indeed rests the explaining of it.


75:20
Never, yet you love the transitory,
