Surah 69
Surah Al-Haqqah: The Sure Event
Revealed at Makkah
With the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Rewarding
69:1
THE sure Event!
69:2
What is the sure event?
69:3
Ha! what will make you realize what the Sure Event is?
69:4
Thamud and ‘Ad denied the striking calamity.
69:5
Then as to Thamud— they were then destroyed by a violent blast.
69:6
And as to ‘Ad— they were then destroyed by a roaring fierce hurricane,
69:7
which He subjected against them for seven nights and eight days, continuously, so that you would have seen the people in it lying prostrate— as if they had been trunks of fallen palm-trees.
69:8
Now, can you see any remnant of them?
69:9
And Fir‘awn, and who were before him, and the Overthrown Cities committed sins.
69:10
And they disobeyed the rasul of their Rabb; so He seized them with a severe seizing.
69:11
Surely when the water rose high, We bore you in the Ark,
69:12
that We might make it a memorial for you and that the listening ear might listen.
69:13
So when blowing will be done into the trumpet by a single blowing,
69:14
and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then they are crushed down with a single crushing,—
69:15
then on that Day the Event will eventuate.
69:16
And the sky will cleave asunder, and it will that Day be fragile;
69:17
and the angels will be on its sides, and above them on that Day eight will bear the Throne of Power of your Rabb.
69:18
On that Day you will be exposed,— the secret will not remain secret from you.
69:19
Then as to him whose book is given to his right hand, he will then say: “Come! read my this book!
69:20
“Surely I knew that I was going to meet my this account.”
