Surah Hud: Hud

Revealed at Makkah

11:21
These are those who have lost their souls, and that which they used to forge has gone astray from them.

11:22
There is no doubt that these are themselves the losers in the Future.

11:23
As to those who believe and do good, and humble themselves before their Rabb, they are the members of the Garden, they abide in it.

11:24
The likeness of these two parties is like the blind and the deaf, and the seeing and the hearing. Can the two be equal in condition? Will you not then mind?

11:25
And certainly We had already sent Nuh towards his people, “Surely I am an obvious warner to you,

11:26
“that you do not worship except Allah. Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a painful day.”

11:27
Then the Chiefs of those of his people who had disbelieved said: “We do not see you anything but a man like ourselves; and we do not see you that anyone following you except those who are the meanest of us at first appearance; and we do not see in you any superiority over ourselves; in fact, we deem you liars.”

11:28
He said: “O my people! have you seen,— if I am on a clear proof from my Rabb, and He has bestowed upon me mercy from Himself, while it has become obscure to you, shall we then force it upon you while you are averse to it?

11:29
“And O my people! I do not ask for it any wealth, my reward is with none but Allah, and I am not going to drive away those who believe. They are indeed going to meet their Rabb, but surely I see you a people acting in ignorance.

11:30
“And O my people! who will help me against Allah, if I drive them away? Will you not then mind?

11:31
“And I do not say to you that I have the treasures of Allah, neither do I know the unseen, and I do not say that I am a malak; nor do I say regarding those who are contemptible in your eyes that Allah will never give them good. Allah knows best what is in their souls; surely I shall then indeed be among the wrongdoers.”

11:32
They said: “O Nuh! you have indeed disputed with us, and you have prolonged disputing with us; so bring us that which you threatened us with, if you are among the truthful!”

11:33
He said: “Allah alone will bring it to you if He please, and you are not going to be an escapee.

11:34
“And my advice will not benefit you even if I desire to advise you, in case Allah is going to intend destroying you. He is your Rabb, and towards Him you will be made to return.”

11:35
Or do they say: “He has forged it”? You say: “If I had forged it, then upon me be my guilt; and I am rid of the guilts you commit.”

11:36
And it was revealed to Nuh: “No one of your people will believe except those who have already believed. Therefore do not grieve on account of what they go on doing.

11:37
“And build the Ark before Our eyes and Our revelation, and do not address Me about those who do wrong; surely they will become drowned.”

11:38
And he was building the Ark; and every time the chiefs of his people passed by him, they laughed at him. He said: “If you laugh at us, then surely we will laugh at you just as you are laughing.

11:39
“So you will soon know who it is on whom overtakes the chastisement which disgraces him; and upon whom will fall the lasting chastisement.”

11:40
Until when Our command came, and the fountains opened up, We said: “Load in it a pair of every kind— two, and your family— excepting him upon whom the sentence has already gone forth, and whosoever believes.” And there did not believe with him except a few.
