Surah Hud: Hud

Revealed at Makkah

With the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Rewarding

11:1

ALIF, Lam, Ra. This is a Scripture whose Ayats are made Decisive; and then they are explained from One most Wise, all-Aware;

11:2
that you do not worship anyone except Allah. “Surely I am from Him to you as a warner and a bringer of glad tidings,—

11:3
“and that you ask forgiveness of your Rabb, then turn towards Him; He will provide you with a goodly provision for an appointed term, and He will bestow His grace on everyone endowed with grace. But if you turn back, then surely I fear for you the chastisement of the great day.

11:4
“Towards Allah is your return, and He is Possessor of power over all things.”

11:5
Now! do they not double up their breasts that they may conceal from Him? Now! beware when they cover themselves with their clothes. He knows what they conceal and what they reveal. He is indeed Knower of what is inside the breasts.

11:6
And there is no terrestrial in the earth but upon Allah is the sustenance of it. And He knows its resting place and its residence. All is in a clear Book.

11:7
And He it is Who has created the heavens and the earth in six periods, and His Throne of Power exists on water, that He may discipline you as to which of you is the best in deeds. And if you were to say: “You are indeed going to be raised up after death”, those who have disbelieved will surely say: “This is nothing but an obvious fraud.”

11:8
And if We delay from them the chastisement for a counted period, they will surely say: “What prevents it?” Is it not that the day it comes to them there is no withholding from them; and what they used to laugh at will encompass them?

11:9
And if We make a man taste mercy from Us, and then withdraw it from him, he invariably becomes despairing, ungrateful.

11:10
And if We make him taste prosperity after adversity had touched him, he will surely say: “Gone are the evils from me.” Surely He is indeed exultant, boastful,—

11:11
excepting those who persevere and do good; these,— for them there is protection and a great reward.

11:12
Perhaps you may then be abandoning some of what has been revealed to you, and your breast will become straitened with it because they say: “Why is not a treasure sent down upon him or a malak come with him?” You are in fact a warner; and Allah is Custodian over all things.

11:13
Or do they say: “He has forged it”? You say: “Then you bring ten Surahs like it, forged, and call upon whom you can besides Allah if you be truthful.”

11:14
If then they do not respond to you, then know that it has surely been revealed with Allah’s knowledge, and that there is no deity but He. Will you not then be Muslims?

11:15
Whoever desires the life of this world and its adornments, We shall give them fully their deeds in this, and they will not have lessened therein.

11:16
These are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter except the Fire; and useless will be what they did in this, and it was false what they were doing.

11:17
Is he then who is upon a clear proof from his Rabb, and a witness from Him recites it, and before it there was the scripture of Musa as a guide and a mercy? Such believe in it. And whoever from the sects disbelieves in it, then Fire is his promised place; so you don’t be in doubt about it. Surely this is the Truth from your Rabb, but most people do not believe.

11:18
And who is more unjust than him who forges a lie against Allah? These will be brought before their Rabb, and the witnesses will say: “These are those who lied against their Rabb.” Is it not that the disapproval of Allah is upon the wrongdoers—

11:19
who keep back from the way of Allah, and seek it to be crooked? And these are themselves the disbelievers in the Hereafter.

11:20
These cannot become the escapees in the earth, and for them there are no guardians besides Allah. The punishment will be doubled for them. They were not capable to hear, and they could not see.
